The Muslim Congress (TMC), Oyo State Chapter, has reaffirmed its commitment to humanity, spirituality, and social responsibility through a three-day programme tagged Khuruj Fii Sabilillah (Outing unto the Path of Allah).
The event, held from Friday 15th to Sunday 17th of this month in Igboho, Orelope Local Government Area, combined spiritual revival with humanitarian service, medical outreach, community engagement, and public enlightenment. It drew hundreds of participants and left a lasting impact on the host community.
A major highlight came on Saturday morning when members of TMC, dressed in customised uniforms and spreading messages of peace, embarked on a two-hour walk across major streets of Igboho.
Themed “Stride for Humanity: TMC Oyo Cares” and held in commemoration of World Humanitarian Day, the walk promoted peace, unity, tolerance, and humanitarian service beyond religious and ethnic divides.
Chanting messages of kindness and neighbourliness, participants marched in unison, while officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) ensured smooth traffic flow and safety for both participants and motorists.
Speaking during the walk, TMC Oyo State Secretary, Alhaji Abdulazeez Bamigbade, stressed the importance of compassion. “Islam preaches peace and love,” he said. “This is the same message that The Muslim Congress spreads. We encourage everyone to emulate these virtues and show genuine concern for their fellow human beings, especially in this challenging period of economic hardship.”
Another key feature of the programme was a free medical caravan, held at the Igboho Central Mosque in collaboration with Damien Foundation Belgium. The outreach offered residents vital healthcare services.
Volunteer doctors, nurses, pharmacists, laboratory scientists, and other health professionals attended to patients, conducted medical tests, and dispensed free drugs. Reports indicated that over 300 patients benefitted from the exercise.
One of the volunteer doctors, Dr. Olajide from Ibadan, expressed concern over undiagnosed cases discovered during consultations.
“Some patients had severe health conditions they had been living with unknowingly due to financial constraints. We recommended urgent follow-ups at hospitals to prevent complications,” he said.
During a media interaction, the Waali (State Coordinator) of TMC, Alhaji Engr. Daud Oladosu, explained that the organisation’s mission goes beyond religious teachings.
“Our work is not limited to delivering lectures from the Qur’an and Sunnah,” he noted. “We care about health, welfare, and development. That is why we mobilised nearly thirty medical professionals to serve the people of Igboho. Our vision is to balance spiritual nourishment with physical wellbeing.”
Beyond the humanitarian activities, TMC members also conducted mosque-to-mosque visitations across Igboho during the three-day programme. After each congregational prayer, scholars and clerics delivered lectures centred on the pristine teachings of Islam.
The Muslim community of Igboho, including the Council of Robitoh, expressed appreciation for the initiative. Many described it as a refreshing blend of religious devotion and tangible service to humanity.
From spiritual lectures to humanitarian services and the symbolic Stride for Humanity, the three-day Khuruj Fii Sabilillah programme left a remarkable imprint on Igboho.
As Nigeria continues to grapple with economic hardship and social challenges, the initiative offered a timely reminder that faith, compassion, and solidarity remain powerful tools for building a stronger, more united society.
