Oyomesi Media Academy flags off maiden training programme

The Oyomesi Media Academy has officially commenced its maiden training programme with an inspiring orientation ceremony held for newly admitted students.

Speaking at the event, the rector, Mr. Orodiran Israel, popularly known as The Pathfinder, urged the pioneer trainees to uphold the values of creativity, competence and character as they begin their journey into the media world.

He delivered his remarks on behalf of the Chairman of the Governing Council, Barrister Wakil Oyeleru Oyedemi, whom he described as a visionary leader whose dedication to youth development and media excellence has shaped the foundation and direction of the academy.

The rector expressed his delight at welcoming the students, noting that Oyomesi Media Academy was established to nurture talent and transform dreams into professional realities. He explained that the admission of the new trainees marks the beginning of a transformative journey designed to challenge, inspire and empower them to become well-grounded media practitioners.

According to him, the students have taken a bold and deliberate step into the fast-evolving world of media, positioning themselves for excellence and relevance.
Orodiran Israel highlighted that the academy’s philosophy is anchored on three key pillars: creativity, competence and character. He encouraged the students to think boldly, embrace innovation and confidently explore their ideas, describing imagination as the lifeblood of the media industry.

He stressed that creativity flourishes when individuals are willing to explore new possibilities and give expression to their unique voices. On competence, he noted that natural talent alone is not enough to excel, emphasizing the importance of discipline, professionalism and hands-on learning. He assured the students that the academy is structured to deliver industry-standard training that will equip them with the skills and confidence needed to excel both locally and internationally.

Speaking on character, he reminded the trainees that integrity and ethical conduct remain the backbone of credible media practice and that the academy is committed to producing responsible and respectable professionals who will uphold the truth and elevate industry standards.

The rector outlined the expectations the academy has of its pioneer students, urging them to remain curious, committed, collaborative and resilient throughout their training. He encouraged them to understand that their time at the academy is not a competition with others but a personal journey toward becoming the best version of themselves. He further assured the students of the academy’s commitment to providing a supportive and creative learning environment, experienced and passionate lecturers, industry-relevant mentorship and opportunities to showcase their talents and build valuable professional networks.

While pledging the academy’s support, he reminded the students that the ultimate responsibility lies with them. He urged them to keep their minds open, sustain their passion, remain focused on their goals and take full advantage of the opportunities before them, noting that the world is waiting for their creativity, ideas and brilliance.

Orodiran Israel concluded by appreciating the strong leadership and unwavering support of Barrister Oyedemi, whose guidance continues to propel the academy toward greater heights. He warmly welcomed the pioneer cohort and encouraged them to embrace the journey ahead with confidence and enthusiasm.
