Da’wah Institute, MUSWEN begin five-day capacity-building seminar for selected Muslim leaders in Ibadan

The Da’wah Institute (TDI), an arm of the Islamic Education Trust (IET), in collaboration with the Muslim Ummah of South-West Nigeria (MUSWEN), has commenced a five-day capacity-building seminar for selected Muslim leaders and community workers in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The opening session of the training featured presentations by the Finance and Administration Officer of the Dawah Institute of Nigeria, Mallam Oladimeji Abdulgafar, as well as Ismail AbdulQadr and Hamzah Yusuf, both researchers and trainers with the Islamic Education Trust (IET). The facilitators engaged participants on the objectives of the programme and the role of knowledge, research, leadership, and effective communication in advancing Islamic work and community development.

The training programme, which began on Saturday, June 13, 2026, will run until Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at Bayseone Hall, Dominican University Road, opposite NASFAT Praying Ground, Samonda, Ibadan.

The opening ceremony was attended by the Executive Secretary of MUSWEN, Professor AbdulLateef Wole Abbas, who commended the Islamic Education Trust for its sustained investment in human capacity development and knowledge empowerment within the Muslim Ummah.

Professor Abbas noted that the organisation’s approach focuses on training a select number of individuals who can subsequently transfer the knowledge and skills acquired to others in their communities and organisations, thereby multiplying the impact of the programme.

Expressing his delight at the quality of participants selected for the seminar, he stated that the beneficiaries have a responsibility to share the knowledge gained with others after the training.

“There is virtually nothing that Islam has not touched. Our challenge is either lack of knowledge or our inability to embrace and implement the guidance available to us. If you are trained, you are equipped,” he said.

Professor Abbas further prayed for the continued growth and success of the Islamic Education Trust, describing its contributions as beneficial not only to the Muslim Ummah but also to Nigeria as a whole.

The seminar attracted over 140 applications from across the South-West region. However, only 50 participants were selected for the intensive training programme, underscoring the organisers’ commitment to quality engagement and impactful learning.

At the end of the five-day exercise, participants are expected to acquire practical skills and contemporary insights that will enhance their effectiveness in Dawah, leadership, research, communication, and community development initiatives.
