Traditionalists-Oluwo Brawl: Iwo Residents Stage Solidarity Rally

Bukola Hameed

Iwo townspeople today staged a solidarity rally in support of their king, Oba AbdulRasheed Adewale Akanbi against the 21-day ultimatum given by the traditional worshippers in Osun state.

The rally took them from Ta’awunu Central Mosque Iwo to the King’s Palace.

News Live Nigeria recalls that the traditional worshippers in Osun had accused Oba AbdulRasheed of deriding their religion and gods, and hence urged him to apologise publicly or risk being invaded. They threatened that if Oluwo refused to tender apology, he should be ready to face the consequences.

While leading other residents of Oluwo in the support rally for the monarch, the Grand Mufti of Yoruba Land, Sheikh Daud Imran Molaasan called on the traditionalists to rescind their fallacious decision and halt the plan. Otherwise, he said, “a powerful protest will be held at the end of this month to counter their planned invasive protest”.
