Oyo state chapter of the League of Muslim School Proprietors, LEAMSP, held her 2021 Proprietors Summit today at the House of Chiefs, Secretariat, Ibadan.

This year’s edition with the theme Salvaging the Standard of Education to World Standards in a Recessed Economy had as its keynote speaker, the honourable Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Barr. Rahman Abiodun AbdulRaheem.

Giving his keynote address, Barr AbdulRaheem, ably represented by Mr Alao O. A., said school administrators are the ones in charge of the day-to-day running of the schools. They manage available resources to deliver the best educational outcomes.
“If the input indeed determines the output, there’s need for the constant training and retraining of this category of personnel to put them abreast of world best practices at all times. At the ministry of education however, we take the training and retraining of personnel seriously knowing fully well that the system can not be better than the quality of personnel that manage it”, he added.

Praising LEAMSP Oyo state on the choice of this year’s theme, the commissioner concluded that, “it is good to note that LEAMSP is not taking the quality of personnel managing their schools with levity”.

Highlights of the Programme included the awards of excellence to eminent personalities whom the Oyo state chairman of LEAMSP, Alhaji Ridwan Ayinde, had described in his opening speech as ‘Pillars-behind-our-garden’ for their unflinching support and unprecedented love and accommodation.

The awardees were: Dr Akin Stephen Fagbemi, Hon. Oluwafemi Adebayo Oluwafowokanmi – Chairman, House committee on education, Pharmacist Zaynul Abideen AbdulGaniy, ZAAG, Alhaji Raheem Babatunde Fatai, Mallam AbdulKabir Tijani, and Teacher of Teachers, Adebare Egunjobi.

One of the awardees, Dr Akin Fagbemi, In his acceptance speech eulogised the organisers of the event and called on LEAMSP not to rest on their oars. Dr Fagbemi, who is a Biotech scientist, a technocrat of repute, established that the global multidisciplinary era is already here, and all stakeholders – school administrators, teachers, parents – must work assiduously to discover inherent skills in every student.

“The major challenge of the Nigerian graduates is not actually unemployment, rather, it is the lack of productive skills that make them irresistible. With relevant global skills, they will be sought after”, he submitted.
