“Money Ritual is Becoming the Order of the Day in Osun”, THURIST Warns, News Live Nigeria reports. 

A faith-based organisation, Ta’awunu Human Rights Initiative(THURIST) has drawn the attention of the government and relevant stakeholders to the persistent ritualist activities going on in Osun and across the country.

THURIST made this admonishment in a release signed by its Director-General Barr. Sulaymon A. Tadese on Friday.

In the release titled ” Who is in Power: The Security and Wellbeing of the People is No Longer the Primary Responsibility of the Government”, THURIST noted that the spate of ritual killings, indiscriminate wasting of human lives by yahoo cultists, Kidnapping, armed robbery, thuggery and hooliganism, brigandage and civil disturbance, among others is at its zenith.

The body also berated the abnormal and self-inflicted inflation of prices of goods and services in Osun state and across the nation.

“It is crystal clear that cases of Social vices From January to February this year had increased beyond imagination, talkless of the spree of same witnessed throughout last year. The rate at which it is not only increasing but alarming”, the body said.

Though the body maintained that they had not rested waiting for the government to sanitise the system as they had institutionalised a human rights group resolving issues through Alternative Dispute Resolution, ADR, the security and welfare of the people is the primary responsibility of the government.

Regarding the youths, the association said teenagers and youths make up 90% of Nigeran population but they’ve been the direct casualties of the menace of ritual killing in this recent time.

“We implore the Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as a matter of importance to put in place adequate security measures towards ensuring and sustaining the peaceful coexistence of the people of this country”, THURIST concluded.
