Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Harmony Holdings Limited, Mallam Abdullahi Abdulmajeed, has mourned the death of a respected Nigerian scholar, Sheikh AbdulGaniy Aboto Al-Adaby, describing it as a tragic loss for the Muslim Ummah.

Sheikh Aboto was a prominent Islamic preacher in the country, especially in Ilorin community, notable for his frank and forthright propagation of Islam.

His death was announced on Saturday, and traced to a car accident that also claimed the lives of two of his students.

“I send my condolences to the Muslim Ummah on this very sad loss of a prominent scholar and cleric, Sheikh AbdulGaniy Aboto Al-Adaby. I especially commiserate with his family, the Adabiyyah group, and the entire Muslim community,” Abdulmajeed said in his condolence statement.

“Sheikh Aboto was a renowned Islamic preacher who took the propagation of the message of Islam dearly, and had immensely contributed to societal reformation with his frank presentations. He was one of the bright stars of the Adabiyyah community and Ilorin emirate. I commiserate with the Emir of Ilorin His Highness Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari on this tragic loss.

“I urge the Muslim Ummah to take the death with equanimity and total submission to the Almighty Allah. Verily, we all belong to Him, and to Him we shall return. May Allah overlook the shortcomings of Sheikh Aboto and two of his students who were also victims of the mishap. May Allah admit them into paradise and accept them as matyrs. I pray that Allah will grant his family and the Muslim Ummah the fortitude to bear the loss. Amin.”
