Consciousness In God Promotes His Trust And The Enjoyment Of His Goodwill
Many of us are Muslims but hardly do we strive to imbibe the core spirits of Islam which involve having Allah’s consciousness and trust in Him! Muslims all over the world, no doubt, believe in Allah but hardly do many of them realize that God’s consciousness and trust in Him, are the required pegs that can stabilize the belief in Him!
It is not wearing the garments of fear that which makes men of God to fear God! Yet it is not when a man of God dons the garb of righteousness that he is deemed fitted to be righteous.
Rather, having the fear, the rectitude and righteousness in his subconsciousness is the true manner he can be said to be a repository of God’s righteousness.
Simply put, the hood does not make a monk, but it is the monk that makes the hood!
Having a respectful appearance of Allah’ s servants is good but what is more pleasant than that is to be respectful in personality and in your behaviour to others, both the low and high of men.
A true believer in Allah, is the one that believes Him with his mind, who proclaims the Sahadah with his mouth and uses his body parts to worship Him.
Likewise, he is the one that imbibes his consciousness by fearing His prohibitions and loving His commandments!
He is the one that trusts in Allah in all his doings. He worships Him alone and when it is the time to seek help, he seek His help and power over which he has no power on!
In extension, sustenance and help which no one have the power to bequeath on other, are sought by a believer from Allah!
The state of a man who claims to have the belief in Allah and who ventures out of Allah’s ways to butter his bread, to heal his ailment, to eke out his living, to live his life and to seek protection against the evil that afflicts him is tantamount to a wealthy man that builds a treasure house without a door, not to talk of a lock, which can serve as a decoy to dissuade the minds of the kleptomaniac and thieves from his belongings!
Then the above similitude is the state of a believing man that lacks God’s consciousness and trust. He is like a treasure house without a door or a lock; every unwanted visitor will just be entering it and taking out what does not belong to them.
It is this lack of God’s consciousness and trust in Him that predisposes the believers into stealing what does not belong to them. It is the root cause of women’s tirade these days that make some of them seeking solutions to problems afflicting them and their children in places which they must not wait on, in the first instance, for shade during a sun-threatning afternoon not to talk of talking refuge there on a rainy night!
Those purported men and women of God who supposed to take godliness , knowledge and righteousness as their watchwords are the ones claiming to know or have cures to every disease affecting man despite the claim that they believe in Allah, these days!
Brethren, the cause of man’s problem is nothing but lack of trust in the highest Being that man professes to love, belief and worship but which in truth he does not love, belief and worship sincerely.
Our problem has been ,to say the obvious, our belittlement of God!. We belittle Him, His solutions and medicine whereas ,He is the knower of all cases and the ways out ,that befit each case!
It is the lack of God’s consciousness and the blanket claiming of knowledge without the conmensurated deeds that has made the knowledgeable whom Allah Himself Has adjudged as ” the the one who fear Him most among His servants”, in Qur’an 35:28, to follow the path of perdition and destruction.
These men of knowledge have blinded themselves from the illuminating light of knowledge and follow instead, the passing lustre of wealth.
They have pursued wealth illegally as they had done when pursuing knowledge legally, with alacrity and the results have been the craze materialism and senseless rituals in which the world are grappling with nowadays!
When the moral consciousness of a society has been unconscious in the arts of morality and decency, the results can be imagined in the society while the central cannot hold again!.
The elevation of wealth and materialism above being suffused in Allah’s consciousness and having trust in Him have also lead to the forgetfulness of knowledge on the part of the knowledgeable.
They have been made to forget the evil rewards which await those that pursue materialism or set to eke out the living senselessly to the point of picking a part of human being or parts of his sepulchre or grave to be mixed with other ingredients in anticipation for wealth!
We read it in Zabur and other heavenly revealed books as agglomerated in a book authored by one of the under celebrated but prolific writers of Islamic texts in Yoruba land in person of Sheikh Yaqub Ibn Imamum-Jaami’ Iqirun, which he named ” Mawaaisu- Baliigah “( Thorough Exhortations) as follows, on the evil rewards inherent in using human parts or parts of his grave for rituals :
It is said that God says:
” He who breaks a wood in a grave ( wanting to use it for rituals) out of the dead’s grave, is like someone who has destructed a door in the Ka’bbah , the House of Allah in Makkah! ;
” He who does not care from where he earns his daily meal; whether it is from the legal ends or illegal means , God will not care to put him into the Hell Fire from any of its gates as He desires on the day of resurrection!;
” He who acts positively with what he knows, Allah will inherit for him the knowledge of what he hitherto not knowing!”
It is the death of the consciousness and trust in God among the scholars of religions ,those whom God Has vouchsafed as His righteous servants, that had put paid to evil that enveloped our lands these days!
When the mouths of the righteous are dried of hates against bad speeches, poor characters and evil deeds, what do you expect from those in power and the one below them in the society?
When kings, governors, legislators and councillors are the very people that invest heavily in thuggery and its promulgators! When the agents of love are spreading hate; when the one commissioned to elevate public good are spitting public nuisance and when the one whose mandate in the first place is derived from People’s good will, is aiming at denting the very land which births his good will, what do you expect the hoi polloi and commoners in the land to do?
The Story Of An Armed Robber And The Blind Snake!

Friends, be conscious of your creator and sustainer and learn from the story of an Armed robber among the Bani Asrad of which the great man of learning and power, Salaudeen al-Ayyubi belonged! It was said that the armed robber used to ply the nook and cranny of the environment of Bannu Asrad, hijacking people’s belongings, stealing men and women property and inflicting harm on whoever wanted to be an hindrance to his trade!
But one day, members of his gang and he were laying ambush for a group of travellers until he noticed an Eagle which was flying from a male palm tree to a female one. What surprised the army robber from the Bannu Asrad was the picking of ripe palm kernel from the female palm tree to the male one several times by the Eagle!
Out of curiosity, the armed robber enthused that :” I climbed the male palm tree to see where the Eagle has been depositing the ripe palm fruits it had been gathering so far and alas, there was a blind snake which opened its wide mouth to receive the palm fruits carrying by the Eagle”!
Quickly, my mind started ruminating about the power of God that has made the snake to be blind in the first instance, then His power to inspire the Eagle to branch on the female palm tree so as to pick the fruits for the snake, as a means of sustenance and the power of God too, to instruct the snake, despite its inability to see ,to open its mouth, so that the Eagle will not miss its target, in quick succession”!
At that moment, i remembered Allah and thought that if i had trusted in Him and have His confidence, Allah would have provided for me as He Had done for the blind Snake! Then i remembered the verses of the glorious Quran as follows:
” As for those who fear Allah , He ever prepares a way out and He provides for him from sources he never could expect. And if anyone put his trust in Allah, sufficient is Allah for him. For Allah will certainly accomplish His purpose: verily ,for all things Has Allah appointed a due proportion!”
“Afterwards, as a result of God’s consciousness that has just sipped in into my soul, I abandoned thievery and my colleagues in the act ,followed suit for we have seen what the trust in God had earned the blind snake to the extent that the Eagle, in all its glory and beauty was mandated to go in search of food for it!
Confidently, we turn a new leaf and face the worship of the true God squarely while we sought to eke out the living with ease from our legal handiworks and God Has been faithful in Him provision for us as a result of the growing of His consciousness and trust in us!
It is also ingrained in the prophetic wisdom that if man will repose full confidence in God with all sincerity , God will give him his provision as He does give the bird that which moves out in the morning hungering but which returns in the evening stomachful !
