Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State on Saturday 27 November, 2021 was agog while family and friends of the graduating students thronged the premises to celebrate their children. It was the 12th Convocation Ceremony of the Institution.
AbdulMuhmeen Ademola Busari, who hails from Atiba local government area of Oyo state didn’t only graduate with 4.71 out of the 5-Point grading system, he finished as the overall best student both in department and college – College of Social and Management Science, 2019/2020 set.
Ademola, in a chat with our correspondent said graduating as the overall best student of the Department of Geography and Environmental Management, is a thing of joy, considering the plethora of challenges he faced.
Recounting the obstacles encountered, AbdulMuhmeen reminisced about his dad whom he lost at infant, and painfully, mum, about six months to the completion of his studies.
” I evolved from infant, out of the shell of challenge because, I couldn’t recognize my dad and mum has been taking the sole responsibility of two.
In accordance to her goal of ensuring a quality education and to be a reputable personality in the society, she had to handle me to several quarters of second class of parents e.g living with her friends.
On the academic path, I was for 5 good years distant from school, this brought a huge challenge upon me because, I found it difficult to discover my handwriting, let alone cope among my peers in class. But Alhamdullillah, I scaled through at the turn of first semester with 4.71.
Another challenge was the final semester at school. It was a period I lost my darling mum. I was emotionally and psychologically disturbed owing to her departure. However, I retained my status quo in academic standard so as to serve as sacrifice for my mother as well as pride for the family as a whole”.
He however left a quote, which he believed would serve as a piece of advice to young people.
“Certainly, life would impose its limitation and equally subject one to threats, however, the ability to stay forthright against the quantum of challenges offered by nature, makes one a victor rather a victim”, he advised.
Ademola had 182 out of 400 in 2016 UTME, and was gainfully admitted in 2016 to study Geography and Environmental Management.
