Starting from Friday the 16th of July, there has been serious traffic for all road users of Ibadan axis of Oyo state, as a result of Eid kabir celebration with people making their trip back home from different states.
With the declaration of 20th and 21st of July 2021 as the day for the celebration if Eid Kabir, many have taken this opportunity to make the holiday eventful by travelling to there designated state, to celebrate with their loved ones.
According to the report gathered, the Lagos-Ibadan expressway was under construction and therefore was closed on Friday, which made road users to make use of the Ibadan-Ijebu Road, thereby causing congestion on the road.
Many intrastate road users could be seen trekking home due to the standstill which took charge of the ibadan road, even at the cause of the night.
In an interview with one of the road flyers, Mr Sunday Adewunmi, he confirmed that the Ibadan-Oyo road also experienced a similar case, as two trailers fell along Academy-Bolumole axis.
“I went from Odo-Ona to Gate spending nothing less than three hours in the traffic” said a tricycle driver. “The Nigerian police force, MOPOL, Oyo state taskforce and other security operatives really tried to control the traffic, but some drivers didn’t follow the directives of the law enforcement officers”, he added
The driver urged the police force and other security operatives to keep up the good work, he also appealed to the road users to comply with directives given to them so as to limit the effect of raid traffic
