A landmark event on media education for Muslim leaders is set to hold in Oyo as Hatbuk Media Production convenes a special programme tagged Media Literacy for Imams and Scholars (MLIS).
The programme, themed “Media: A Powerful Tool for Islamic Propagation,” will take place on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at Starlight Event Centre, Mabolaje, Oyo, starting at 10 a.m.
The Chairman of the Oyo State Pilgrims Welfare Board (Muslim Wing), Sheikh Haashim Atere, will deliver the keynote address, while the main lecture will be presented by Sheikh Abdulrahman Akinade Soliu Gbagere, a respected Islamic scholar.
Dignitaries expected at the event include Dr AbdulMumin Hamzat, Chairman of the Oyo Muslim Community, as Chief Host; Sheikh Daud Imran Oladele Igiogun, Khaadimul Muslimeen of Oyoland, as Chairman of the Day; Alhaja Misitura Adebisi, as Mother of the Day; and Honourable AbdulMajeed Abodunrin, as Father of the Day.
Speaking on the essence of the programme, convener Bukola Hameed, CEO of Hatbuk Media Production, said the initiative is aimed at equipping Islamic leaders with the knowledge and tools to engage responsibly and effectively with the media in the digital age.
“Media is no longer just a platform of information; it has become a powerful force that can shape perceptions, values, and faith. It is important for Imams and scholars to understand its dynamics and use it wisely for Islamic propagation,” Hameed said.
The event is expected to draw Islamic scholars, clerics, students, and members of the wider Muslim community from within and outside Oyo State.
