The Chief Imam, Olowo To n fowo Saanu Shopping Complex, Iwo-Road, Ibadan, Ustaz Isiaq Surajudeen has described the art of keeping family ties as a highly rewarding act in the sight of Allah.

He stated this at the Maiden Ramadan Lecture of Ile-Alfa Sons and Daughters of Aliiwo Royal Compound held at Ile-Alfa Compound, Aliiwo, Ibadan.

Speaking on the topic “Kinship in Islam”, Ustaz Surajudeen said one of the blessings attached to keeping family ties was the promise by Allah to elongate the life of such a person.

He urged parents to avoid telling their children past bad stories and let bygone be bygone as such stories would continue to severe family ties from generation to generations.

Ustaz Surajudeen also called for revival of the old tradition of communal service where members of the community would involve in joint contributions to aid to the success of brilliant individuals adding that that would address the rate at which youths involved in criminal activities.

Earlier, the head of Ile-Alfa family, Alhaji Daud Adeyemo urged members of the family to be good ambassadors wherever they might be and be responsible at all times.

The chairman, organising committee of the maiden Ramadan Lecture, Dr Rasheed Fasasi said the forum was to serve as an avenue to bring all the family members including their children together for interaction and integration.

He said the Ramadan Lecture would be an annual one while a foundation would also be put in place for the development of the family compound.

Highlights of the programme included special prayers for the family’s descendants.
