LASU alumna, Lawal Maryam Abiodun, emerges best graduating female student at Nigerian law school, News Live Nigeria reports.

Lagos State University (LASU) has once again reaffirmed its status as a citadel of academic excellence, as Lawal Maryam Abiodun, an exceptional alumna of the Faculty of Law (Common and Islamic Law), was named the Best Graduating Female Student and Second Overall Best Graduating Student at the 2025 Call to Bar ceremony, held from July 8th to 10th in Abuja.

Maryam distinguished herself among 7,134 candidates called to the Nigerian Bar, earning nationwide acclaim for her academic brilliance and further elevating LASU’s reputation in legal education.

Representing the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, at the ceremony, the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Professor Kareem Olatoye, praised Maryam as “a true ambassador and a shining testament to the excellence we nurture in our students.” He encouraged other students to emulate her unwavering dedication, discipline, and pursuit of academic excellence.

In her official congratulatory message, Professor Olatunji-Bello celebrated Maryam’s remarkable feat, describing it as a moment of immense pride for the entire LASU community. She also commended Professor Olatoye and the Faculty of Law for their steadfast commitment to academic distinction and student mentorship.

“This outstanding accomplishment reflects the depth of quality education and mentorship at LASU,” the Vice-Chancellor stated. “It is a clear testament to our vision of producing globally competitive graduates who are prepared to lead with excellence and integrity.”

She further urged students of the Faculty of Law to uphold LASU’s proud tradition of academic and professional excellence, and to remain committed to setting new benchmarks of success.
