According to a statement signed by the University Registrar, Mrs. Olayinka O. Balogun, on Friday, November 7, 2025, the student lost his life after being hit by a yet-to-be-identified driver in a hit-and-run incident in Iseyin.
Describing the event as heartbreaking, the University expressed deep sorrow over the loss, extending condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the deceased.
“This heartbreaking incident has cast a shadow over our University community, and we extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the deceased,” the statement read in part.
In response to the incident and the emotional distress it has caused within the university community, the management approved a two-week suspension of academic activities at the Iseyin Campus, effective immediately.
All students in the College of Agricultural Sciences and Renewable Natural Resources are to proceed on the two-week break, with academic activities scheduled to resume on Monday, November 24, 2025.

The University also urged students to remain calm, stay safe, and support one another during this difficult time, while honouring the memory of their departed colleague.
