The Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi Telu 1 has admonished an Osun-based Civil Society Organisation, The Ta’awunu Human Rights Initiative, THURIST, to be ready to make sacrifices, as defending people’s rights usually goes with discomfort.
Oba AbdulRasheed said this while playing host to THURIST delegation in his palace today.
The king, while receiving the delegates of the Human Rights group led by the Director Barr. Sulaymon A. Tadese expressed his appreciation on various issues that might have escalated into clashes between and among inhabitants of Iwoland and beyond.

“I have seen alot about your Human Rights Group on Social Media and it is laudable. Continue and don’t stop”, he said
He added that “The work of Human Rights Group entails living an uncomfortable life for others to be comfortable and then make you comfortable in their own comforts”.
The Director General Ta’awunu Human Rights Initiative while addressing the Paramount King of Iwoland, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi explained that the Human Rights Group doesn’t only attend to issues of violations of rights but also has an Alternative Dispute Resolution in which cases that are civil and misdemeanor matters are handled to aid the judiciary in multiplicity of cases for a settlement out of court.
“THURIST as a Human Rights Group has an ADR plenary in which cases that are very minor such as marital disputes, Land Matters and Contracts are settled out of court and to the satisfaction of both parties”, he said.
He added that “We have settled a long time tussle between the Oloke of Obamoro town and some of his subjects which might have degenerated into crisis. We are equally into a land dispute settlement between the Sauta and Baalewo ruling classes of Olori town, in Iwo Local Government of Osun State in which the king had recently made appearance as a witness in our last sitting”
