Oyo government approves local scheme of service for community nursing and midwifery cadres

The Oyo State Government has officially approved a locally developed Scheme of Service for Community Nursing Superintendent and Midwifery cadres, covering Grade Levels 06 to 14 within the state’s civil and public service.

This initiative aims to standardize career development and enhance the quality of healthcare delivery by these vital frontline professionals.

Commissioner for Establishments and Training, Prof. Salihu Adelabu, emphasized that the approval reflects the government’s dedication to strengthening grassroots healthcare and professionalizing essential health roles.

The newly approved cadres will be incorporated into the 2025 Establishments Estimates of all relevant Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), ensuring appropriate recognition, budgeting, and personnel deployment within the new structure.

Prof. Adelabu noted that the Homegrown Scheme provides a clearly defined career path, detailing responsibilities, qualification requirements, and promotion opportunities for officers in the community nursing and midwifery cadres.

He added that the initiative is geared toward improving service efficiency, boosting job satisfaction, and promoting long-term retention of trained health personnel.

Implementation of the scheme is set to begin immediately, with relevant government bodies overseeing administrative coordination.

The state government encourages all officers in the newly recognized cadres to view this development as a call to greater dedication, professional growth, and improved service delivery to the people of Oyo State.
