The Oyo State Government has announced plans to commence a rigorous enforcement exercise aimed at removing illegal, unauthorized, and non-compliant advertising structures across the state.

The Director General of the Oyo State Signage and Advertisement Agency (OYSAA), Hon. Oludolapo Esho Ajanaku, disclosed this while speaking at the Agency’s headquarters in Ibadan.

According to Hon. Ajanaku, the move is part of a wider debt recovery and regulatory compliance effort as many outdoor advertising practitioners have yet to fulfill their statutory obligations, including structure revalidation and debt reconciliation.

He emphasized that a significant number of unauthorized electronic and outdoor advertisements are currently being displayed across the state, in violation of existing regulations. He therefore called on all registered third-party practitioners to complete their:

✅ Revalidation exercise by July 11, 2025

✅ Debt reconciliation process by July 28, 2025

In addition, Hon. Ajanaku urged business owners with signage installations within Oyo State to regularize their status by visiting the OYSAA office, located on the 3rd Floor, Water Corporation Building, Secretariat, Ibadan.

He warned that the agency will not tolerate illegal billboards, adding that a state-wide clampdown on all non-compliant structures is imminent.

“OYSAA will not condone any illegal advertising structure on our streets. All practitioners must comply with the agency’s rules and regulations or face the full weight of enforcement”, he said.

It will be recalled that OYSAA had previously initiated a statewide revalidation exercise to enhance transparency, strengthen regulatory oversight, and improve service delivery. The initiative is also intended to promote a more business-friendly advertising environment in the Pacesetter State.
