The Oyo State education community is in a state of profound relief and thanksgiving following the safe release of the abducted teachers and pupils.
Welcoming them back, the Chairman of the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (OYOSUBEB), Dr. Nureni Aderemi Adeniran, described their freedom as a moment of immense joy for families, colleagues, classmates, and everyone who held onto hope throughout the traumatic ordeal.
In a statement signed on Friday, Adeniran expressed deep gratitude to God for preserving the victims’ lives and making their reunion possible.
Dr. Adeniran congratulated teachers, learners, parents, school administrators, and education stakeholders across Oyo State, noting that their collective resilience, faith, and unwavering hope had finally been rewarded.
He extended profound appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde for their commitment and support during the rescue efforts. Additionally, he commended the security agencies for the professionalism, dedication, sacrifices, and patriotism that culminated in the successful rescue of the educators and their pupils.
The OYOSUBEB chairman also recognized the vital role played by religious leaders, traditional rulers, civil society organizations, media practitioners, and well-meaning Nigerians who supported the affected families through advocacy and prayers during the challenging period.
While celebrating their safe return, Adeniran urged the public to continue praying for lasting peace and security across the nation.
He concluded by reaffirming the government’s steadfast commitment to ensuring that schools remain safe environments for teaching and learning, warmly declaring that the entire Oyo State education family is delighted to welcome their beloved teachers and pupils back home.
