The supporters of former Osun Governor and Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, operating under the name, The Osun Progressives, TOP, on Saturday the 14th of August 2021, stormed the State Party Secretariat, in Osogbo and disrupted the scheduled meeting of the Appeal Committee to settle the uproar from the recently concluded state congress.
The Osun Progressives had earlier submitted their petitions to the party secretariat in Abuja. The National Leadership of the party upon granting their requests tuned in to the Appeal Committee to help scrutinise the process.
The committee on getting to the secretariat as scheduled, reports undercovered that thugs led by Elder Adelowo Adebiyi and Gbenga Akanwo, attacked the supporters of Governor Oyetola present at the scene.
In a reprisal attack, thugs wearing fez caps emblazoned with OYETOLA stormed the party, and chased all members of The Osun Progressives, with a stern warning of an attack on any member who intends to disrupt the appeal process.
An eye witness at the scene of the event revealed that the thugs stormed the party secretariat premises at about 10:40 am and started calling out and identifying members of the caucus.
After identifying them, they were then beaten and dragged away from the secretariat premises of the party.
However, the leadership of the Osun State APC is yet to issue any statement on this matter at the time of filing this report.
It is hoped that the fracas that has emanated from the recently concluded state congress election will be looked into by the National Leadership of the party.
