Proprietor urges parents to be role model to their children

Proprietor of Al Ameen Comprehensive High School, Agbogangan, Oyo, Alhaji Shahid Adejare has urged parents to serve as role model for their children in order to make our society a safe haven.

Alhaji Adejare made this call in Oyo on Thursday while having a parley with the parents of the school.

He said children learn from the people around them, “so in order to teach your children good values, you must model them in your life, first.

You may verbally explain numerous values, but your children will only pick up the ones you showcase through your own behaviour”.

However, the proprietor berated the alarming rate of children’s waywardness in the society, stating that the only panacea is for the parents to herald the desired change through their actions and inactions.

“The level of social vices is highly disturbing today. This, largely becomes exacerbated by lackadaisical attitude of some parents. No wonder, some of them are accidental parents!

This is why school age children are seen in club houses, partaking in nude dance, bleaching, substance smoking, and so on”, he concluded.

Alhaji Adejare therefore prescribed purposeful parenting, which focuses on role modelling, as the solution to this mess.
