RELIEF: Nigerian troops, MNJTF kill 81 Boko Haram members in Sambisa

At least, 81 Boko Haram fighters have been brought down in the Sambisa axis within the last forty-eight hours.

These terrorists were eliminated by the Nigerian Army though, one soldier died from a landmine the sect planted.

The troops of Sector 1, comprising 21 and 26 Brigades, supported by Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), cleared many locations terrorists used as hideout.

They include villages along Garin Bello, Kwoche, Lawanti, Alfa Bula Hassan, Alfa Cross, among others.

An anonymous source that got across to News Live Nigeria reported that the military encountered stiff resistance from the terrorists who laid bombs along troops’ axis of advance.

The source, an officer, said troops destroyed the terrorists’ camps, recovered gun trucks and weapons as NAF aircraft provided air and interdiction support.

“Regrettably a soldier paid the supreme sacrifice, with 4 other soldiers wounded in an improvised explosive devices incident,” the source furthered.

The Chief of Army Staff, Major General Ibrahim Attahiru, and Theatre Commander Operation Lafiya Dole, Major General Farouk Yahaya lauded the spirited efforts and gallantry of the troops.

Attahiru paid tribute to the fallen hero and urged officers and men to honour his memory by dealing with the terrorists without mercy.
