The Muslim Congress (TMC) of Oyo State has provided financial assistance to indigent Muslims across the state as part of its commitment to supporting the less privileged.
The distribution took place on the evening of Saturday, 29th March 2025, ahead of the Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations marking the end of Ramadan 1446 A.H. The initiative aimed to bring joy to Muslim families, ensuring they could celebrate the festival with happiness and ease.
This support was carried out under the Feed the Needy programme, a flagship initiative of TMC Oyo State dedicated to addressing the needs of the underprivileged.
During a media interaction, the Wali (State Coordinator) of TMC Oyo State, Engr. Daud Oladosu, highlighted the current economic challenges in Nigeria. He stated that, in light of the hardship faced by many, the organisation considers it a fundamental duty to alleviate the struggles of Muslims within the state.
Ustadh Idris Muhammad, Chairman of the Feed the Needy programme, expressed his appreciation to all donours who contributed financially to support the initiative. He emphasised that transparency remained a core principle of the programme, assuring contributors that the funds were distributed fairly.
“As promised to our donours, we ensured that every contribution reached those in need transparently. The minimum amount disbursed to each identified beneficiary, based on account details received from our Local Government representatives, was ₦10,000,” he stated.
Idris further revealed that the initiative covered only 20 indigent Muslims across the state. Different from those who were sent money, some beneficiaries received food relief packages to ease their burden during Ramadan. He called upon financially capable individuals and organisations to support the programme, emphasising that with more contributions, the initiative could reach a larger number of people in need.
“We assure all potential donors that the process remains transparent and accountable,” he added.
The Feed the Needy programme is one of TMC Oyo State’s numerous humanitarian initiatives aimed at fostering community support and ensuring that the less privileged are not left behind during significant religious celebrations.
