Oyo govt appoints 116 new staff to college of nursing, confirms principal officers’ roles

The Oyo State Government has issued appointment letters to 116 newly recruited staff members of the Oyo State College of Nursing and Midwifery, Eleyele, Ibadan, in a move aimed at bridging critical academic and administrative gaps.

Additionally, the government confirmed the substantive appointments of four principal officers of the College: the Registrar, Librarian, Bursar, and Director of Works.

These developments were revealed on Thursday by the Provost of the College, Dr. Gbonjubola Owolabi, during a special ceremony where the 1976–79 alumni set (Set X) donated new furniture for students.

According to Dr. Owolabi, the new appointments span a range of essential cadres, including:

  • Legal Advisers
  • Senior Lecturers
  • General Nursing Science (GNS) Lecturers
  • Sickbay Nurses
  • Administrative Officers
  • Higher Executive Officers
  • Higher Store Officers
  • Assistant Executive Officers
  • Computer Analysts
  • Higher Technical Officers
  • Motor Drivers
  • Craftsmen
  • Clerical Officers

She commended Governor Seyi Makinde for his continued support for the College, emphasizing that the newly donated furniture would greatly benefit students, especially given the institution’s growing population.

Dr. Owolabi also announced that the College recently earned full accreditation for its core programmes from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria, following the September/October 2024 evaluation.

She highlighted other institutional advancements, including the development of an online student clearance platform, which now enables students to complete clearance procedures remotely, eliminating the need for physical presence.

Speaking on behalf of Set X, Elder Emmanuel Kunle Oladejo praised the Provost and her team for their outstanding achievements. He encouraged the leadership to pursue the vision of transforming the College into a degree-awarding institution.

Elder Oladejo also urged students to strive for academic excellence and emulate successful alumni who have excelled in various professional fields.
