Oyomesi Media Academy, the academic arm of Oyomesi 97.5 FM, on Friday held a colourful matriculation ceremony for its 2025/2026 academic session, formally welcoming a new cohort of aspiring broadcasters and media professionals into its training programme.
The ceremony, held at the Oyomesi 97.5 FM premises drew dignitaries, media practitioners, and academics who gathered to witness what the Rector, Mr Israel Orodiran, described as “a significant milestone in the life of the academy and in the future of every matriculating student.”
In his address, Mr Orodiran paid glowing tribute to the Chairman, Governing Council of Oyomesi Media Academy, Barr. Wakil Oyeleru Oyedemi, for his visionary leadership and unwavering support in building a reputable institution committed to excellence and youth development.
The Rector reaffirmed the academy’s mission to raise competent, confident, and ethical media practitioners capable of excelling in a rapidly evolving communication landscape.
“Through our unique relationship with Oyomesi 97.5 FM, our students gain real-time exposure to broadcasting environments, industry professionals, and global best practices. We train not just practitioners, but leaders,” he said.
He charged the new students to approach their training with curiosity, discipline, and passion, reminding them that the media industry rewards creativity, integrity, and hard work.
Mr Orodiran also expressed gratitude to parents and guardians for entrusting their wards to the academy, assuring them of a holistic and value-driven training experience.
The ceremony also featured a matriculation lecture delivered by Dr Kola Oni, former General Manager of Crowther 88.5 FM, titled “Training the Next Generation: Skills Every Modern Broadcaster and Media Professional Must Master.”
Dr Oni highlighted essential competencies for contemporary media practice, stressing multi-platform versatility, compelling storytelling, strong ethical grounding, and technical proficiency.
“The media is no longer one-dimensional,” he noted. “You must be comfortable on radio, TV, social media, podcasts, and digital platforms. Your story, your ethics, and your creativity will define your success.”
Dr Oni encouraged the students to embrace innovation, develop confidence, and uphold professionalism, adding that their personal conduct and discipline would play a key role in shaping their careers.
The event ended with the formal declaration of the matriculation ceremony open by the Rector, who once again welcomed the fresh students into what he described as “the academic powerhouse of Oyomesi 97.5 FM.”
The new intakes are now set to begin training in broadcasting, production, presentation, digital media, and other core components of modern communication, as Oyomesi Media Academy continues its mandate of grooming the next generation of broadcasters and media professionals.
