An Islamic scholar, Sheikh AbdulMajeed AbdulRaheem Agbaye, has charged youths to see themselves as agents of change for, their role is pivotal in achieving a peaceable nation of our dream where development thrives.
This was the thrust of his lecture titled Youth and Nation Building at the 4th Ramadan Public lecture organised by Omo Iya Kunmi Foundation held at Starlight Event Center, Mabolaje, Oyo on Sunday.
Sheikh Agbaye said, “Young people have important responsibilities towards their society. It is significant to learn from the past and to live with a hope for a better future, a future that is appropriate for our children and future generations.
He added that for us to have a society of our dream, the youths have a duty to be honest, genuine, of good values and to work day and night for the betterment of the society and the country.
“Young people have a duty to use their skills, strength, creativity and imaginations to serve the country and the nation in the best possible manner.
This exactly is what Omo Iya Kunmi is doing. May God soar him higher in goodness”, he concluded.
However in his speech, Alhaji Saheed Omo Iya Kunmi, explained that the 4th edition of Omo Iya Kunmi and Friends Ramadan Public Lecture couldn’t go as earlier planned owing to the sudden demise of Oba Dr Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III.
Meanwhile, in his chart with our correspondent, Omo Iya Kunmi said he has chosen the path of serving as a role model, a motivating factor worthy of emulation to the younger generation, adding that this would go a long way in building strong individuals who will herald new development in the society.
He reiterated the objectives of the annual event, which do not exclude propagating the religion of Islam, creating an enabling environment for unity to thrive by bringing people from all walks of life together and mentoring young ones to remain on the pedestal of morality, hope and development.

Highlights of the event included award presentation to the guest lecturer, Sheikh AbdulMajeed AbdulRaheem Agbaye and Special prayers in honour of late Oba (Dr) Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III.
