Alayande varsity council chairman, Ogunkunle celebrates Oba Owoade at 50, confirms takeoff of Alaafin Institute of Yoruba Studies, News Live Nigeria reports.
The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council of Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Oyo, Emeritus Professor Ayoade Olayiwola Ogunkunle, has felicitated with the Alaafin of Oyo, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade I, on the occasion of his 50th birthday and 19th wedding anniversary.
In a statement issued by the university’s Media and Public Relations Officer, Wale Adeoye, Professor Ogunkunle described Oba Owoade as “a monarch of uncommon wisdom, compassion and geniality,” adding that his generosity – both in spirit and in substance – is widely acknowledged.
“Kaabiyesi is a man of strong character whose presence leaves a lasting impression on everyone he encounters. As a university deeply committed to the preservation and promotion of our cultural heritage, we are proud to announce that the Alaafin Institute of Yoruba Studies will soon commence operations in his honour,” the statement read.
Speaking on behalf of the University’s Governing Council, Senate, Management, Staff, and Students, Professor Ogunkunle extended heartfelt wishes to the monarch and his consort, Olori Abiwumi Owoade, for continued peace, prosperity, and long life.
“It is our collective prayer that Kaabiyesi and Olori live to celebrate many more fruitful years on the revered throne of their forebears,” the statement concluded.
