The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Committee, Governor Mai Mala Buni, has dismissed the rumoured 2023 presidential ticket of the party’s National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and former Speaker, Yakubu Dogara, that gained momentum following the former speaker’s defection to the party.
Buni made this known while speaking with BBC Hausa on Thursday.
Whether Honourable Dogara joined the party in a bid for the ruling party to have Tinubu/Dogara holding a Muslim/Christian ticket, he replied: “These are mere rumour and rumor strive in democracy. That’s not even our concern for now. The governor decried and played down every suggestion of plotting a new presidency when there is an active president in place.
It came as a blatant surprise to see the former speaker returning to the APC after dumping the party less than two years ago. However, the Yobe state governor unequivocally said ” In a democracy, people talk but 2023 is not even our priority now. We are working towards uniting the party.”
