This was contained in a letter tagged, “RE: PETITION TO REMOVE OBA ABDULRASHEED AKANBI (OLUWO OF IWO) FROM THE THRONE OF IWOLAND, directed to the governor of the state, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola and made available to newsmen. According to them, “Iwo people totally dissociate from the petition purportedly signed by the listed kingmakers as same may be part of the handiworks of the die-hard detractors of His Highness. Even, the views as contained in the said petition are personal to the said kingmakers and not in tandem with the positions of their respective families which they represent. In fact, majority of them are being queried by members of their respective families for their actions. This is to show how popular His Highness is among his subjects”

They affirmed to continue showing their love for Oluwo, who, since his enthronement, has brought numerous development to the great land and has continued to assist and give life to the poor, aged, orphans and less privileged.

“Kabiyesi, having been selected for us, we Iwo people have been enjoying him and we hope to continue enjoying him on the throne till his very old age. The contents of the said petition do not represent what Iwo people want” they said
