The Saudi Arabian authorities have decided to shut their land, air, and sea borders over fears of a new strain of coronavirus.
Saudi Arabia also suspended all international commercial flights for a week as a preventive and protective measure against the new wave of the virus reported to have reemerged and wrecked gavoc on several European countries.
The interior ministry of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia made this revelation on Sunday via an official statement received by News Live Nigeria.
The KSA government would only allow commercial international flights for travelers in emergency cases, and this new order will be on for a week, which can be extended for another week, though, foreign flights that are currently in the Kingdom are allowed exit.
They also suspended all routes to the kingdom’s entry points: land and seaports temporarily for the same duration that can also be augmented if need be.
The interior ministry also directed all returnees after 8th, December 2020, from any country where the new spike in COVID-19 cases has been recorded to self-isolate for a period of two weeks from the date of arrival in the Kingdom and also undergo coronavirus tests during their isolation period after every five days.
“Anyone, who has returned from or passed through a European country or any country where the new strain of COVID-19 appeared over the past three months, must take a coronavirus test”, the ministry added.
News Live Nigeria understands that these COVID-19 preventive measures are subject to review and assessment by the kingdom’s Ministry of Health.
