Educators from across Oyo State converged at a seminar organized by the League of Muslim Schools’ Proprietors (LEAMSP) to explore sustainable strategies for institutional growth anchored on values, discipline, and professionalism.
The event, hosted at Al-Ameen Group of Schools, Agbogangan, Oyo, was themed “Sustaining School Growth Through Values, Discipline, and Professionalism.”
In his welcome address, Mr. Makinde S. A., State Secretary of LEAMSP, emphasized that the gathering was more than a routine seminar — it was a strategic platform for professional development, collaboration, and shared vision among Muslim educators.
“Our presence here today reflects our collective vision — to build institutions that produce learners who are not only brilliant but also guided by integrity, discipline, and the fear of Allah,” he stated.
Makinde commended school proprietors for their continued investment in quality education, lauded principals for steadfast leadership, and praised teachers for their “daily sacrifices as true nation builders.”
The seminar’s discussant, Prince Afolabi Adeola, an educationist and innovative students’ coach, warned against prioritizing expansion over purpose, noting that some schools are “growing in population but shrinking in purpose.”
He described values as the invisible curriculum, asserting that “children learn more from the actions of adults than their words.” Adeola urged that school values must be lived out daily rather than displayed merely as “slogans on the wall.”
On discipline, he highlighted that it is the root of excellence — doing what is right even when unobserved. “A cane may stop noise,” he remarked, “but only culture stops indiscipline.”
The seminar reaffirmed LEAMSP’s commitment to blending academic excellence with moral uprightness, offering members a clear framework for nurturing resilient, purpose-driven institutions.
Other centers that hosted the seminar simultaneously included Assabbaq College, Bodija, Ibadan; Muslim Group of Schools, Orita-Naira, Ogbomoso; and Honesty Nursery and Primary School, Yagbo-Yaju Street, Isale Adini, Ero-Omo Area, Saki.
