By Bukola Hameed

Contrary to the report being circulated, the electoral chairman of Federation of Oyo State Students Union, FOSSU 2022, Comrade Kabeer Okengbero has urged people to disregard fake news, that no election was held.

Comrade Okegbenro told News Live Nigeria in an interview today that, “I still remain the electoral Chairman of FOSSU and the fact still remains that no election held yesterday under my chairmanship.

He however pointed accusing finger at the Special Assistant to governor Seyi Makinde on Students Affairs, Mr Victor Olojede, saying he was behind the crisis that marred the whole process.

“The reality is that the SA to the govenor of Oyo State on Students matter is the one instigating crisis.

“We’ve accredited the delegates and about to start the voting when SA on Students withdrew the security from us.

After that, he insisted that the delegates from Ogbomosho were not real and used some members of cult group to drag them out and brought in some loyalists to act as delegates.

Immideately I realised that, I knew there was serious problem and I announced the suspension of the election and I called the men of Agro rangers for rescue and they’re the one that evacuated me from the venue.

The cult members mobilised by Victor Olojede attacked so many people majorly the Ogbomosho people.

So, it was after I announced the postponement of the election and evacuation from the venue that Electoral Secretary and two members continued.

However, five members of the electoral committee have left the venue.”

Comrade Okegbenro however expressed concern over what he described as “ridiculous compromise” as security personnel such as Nigeria Police, NSCDC, and Chief Security Officer as well as Dean of Students Affairs of Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora could not do anything to restore sanity.

In his own remark, the Union’s PRO, Jeleel Oluwaseyi Azeez aka African Lincoln said “In recent students Unionism, we have scenarios where individuals declared him or herself as the new leader of a union even when the members of the Union don’t have any interest in him.

Alarape as well is setting the same record of forcing himself on people.

“Our next line of action will be communicated soon and this will definitely be the one that reflects the interest of the students populace and set strategies that defines the Union as the one whose lofty ideals and principles can’t be compromised for selfish interest”, he concluded.
