The FOSSU electoral chairman, Comrade Kabeer Okegbenro has written to notify the Directorate of State Security Services, Oyo State Headquarter of the irregularities experienced at the FOSSU 2022 National Convention in Ibarapa on Saturday 26 March, 2022.
It rejected imposition by the SA to governor Seyi Makinde on Students matter, Mr Victor Olojede.
In a release obtained, in confidence, by News Live Nigeria, demand was made for an avenue where a free, fair and transparent election would be conducted.
The letter:
OUR POSITION ON PURPORTED FOSSU CONVENTION IN IBARAPA
The above named Commission of the Federation of Oyo State Students Union writes to notify your office on the scenario which played out and marred the planned FOSSU 22 NATIONAL Convention scheduled to hold on Saturday 26th of March, 2022.
The said election which has its venue as the Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology Igboora turned out to become a warfront in which the Special Assistant to Governor Of Oyo State on Students Matters took over the venue alongside with his hired thugs to send genuine students away and forcefully imposed his preferred candidates on the students populace.
Following the said move which countered the expectations of the students populace in a democratic institution like FOSSU, the election was announced suspended and postponed by the Electoral Chairman.
It is in lieu of the above that, we beseech your office to hold on to measures to resist the planned imposition as a matter of responsibility and draw towards supporting the commission to deliver a Fair and transparent election.
While counting on your office on behalf of the students poulace, we hope you will not take us for granted and act accordingly. Thanks in anticipation of granting our request.
