The Grand Chief Imam of Ogbomosoland, Imam Yunus Olushina Teliat Ayilara II, PhD, has expressed profound gratitude to Allah and the Muslim community as he marks his fourth anniversary in office, reflecting on years of steadfast service, spiritual guidance, and community development.
In a statement personally signed by him, Imam Ayilara described the past four years as a journey of “growth, learning, and unwavering commitment to the service of Islam and humanity.” He acknowledged Allah’s mercy and guidance throughout his tenure, emphasizing his continued dedication to upholding the pure teachings of Islam and promoting unity within the Ummah.
“By Allah’s grace, we have continued to preach pristine Islamic ideologies, guiding the Ummah away from innovations and ensuring that the light of Tawheed shines brightly in Ogbomoso,” the Chief Imam stated.
The Imam highlighted major strides in religious education, community outreach, and youth empowerment, noting that education remains central to spiritual and societal progress.
“A knowledgeable Muslim is an empowered Muslim,” he said, reaffirming his belief that learning is a key tool for both personal growth and collective advancement.
He also underscored the importance of philanthropy and social intervention in building a compassionate society, commending the Ogbomoso Muslim Youth Forum for their dedication and involvement in various projects that strengthen the community.
In his message of appreciation, Imam Ayilara expressed heartfelt gratitude to several notable figures for their continued support, including: Engr. Seyi Makinde, Executive Governor of Oyo State, for his encouragement and cooperation; High Chief (Dr.) Saka Adegbite Balogun, the Balogun of Ogbomosoland, for his fatherly counsel; Senator Hamzat Ayoade Adeseun, Asiwaju/Baba-Isale Adini of Ogbomosoland, for his steadfast leadership; and Alhaji Monsur Abdulhamid Ejide, for his tireless efforts in fostering unity within the Ummah.
He also lauded the women and mothers of Ogbomosoland for their enduring prayers and unwavering support, praying that Allah bless them abundantly and grant Barakah to their children.
Reflecting on the journey so far, Imam Ayilara reaffirmed his vision for a united, enlightened, and God-conscious Muslim community:
“Together, we have placed Ogbomoso on the map as a centre of Islamic learning, unity, and development. But this is only the beginning. With faith, sincerity, and cooperation, we shall achieve even greater milestones, In Sha’a Allah.”
The Grand Chief Imam concluded by praying that Allah accept the community’s efforts, forgive their shortcomings, and guide them towards continued service to His cause with humility and devotion.
