Gruesome Killing of Adegoroye Yaqub: THURIST Writes Osun CP

Over alleged gruesome killing of one Adegoroye Yaqub by suspected internet fraudsters, an Osun-based human rights group, THURIST, has written the Osun State Commissioner for Police, seeking an end to the ugly incident.

WANTON DESTRUCTION, THREAT TO LIVES AND PROPERTIES AND GRUESOME KILLING OF ADEGOROYE YAQUB BY SOME INTERNET FRAUDSTERS (YAHOO BOYS)

The menace of Yahoo Boys in Osun State over the years has graduated to a level which now needs to be given a very strong attention by the Government.

Serious crimes against persons and properties had been showcased by the so called Yahoo Boys ranging from fraud, rape and ritual killings amongst others, with records available to bear witness to this assertion.

As if all we have heard and seen were not enough, these Yahoo Boys have taken their criminality to another level as they gruesomely killed one ADEGOROYE YAQUB in cold blood around 11pm Yesterday being December 24th, 2021, while returning to his abode after attending a lecture at the ongoing Ta’awunu National conference in Iwo.

These set of criminal elements have once again ruined the peaceful atmosphere of Osun State at the expense of the never-willing-to-prosecute Law Enforcement Agents in Osun State.

It is important to state at this juncture that crimes proliferation across the state and the incessant escape of Justice by perpetrators is capable of jeopardising efforts of the state’s Commissioner of Police on his zero tolerance for crimes mantra.

We believe the Yahoo Boys have done enough damages in Osun State and it is time that the State’s Commissioner of Police do the needful to arrest this awful menace within his jurisdiction.

To this effect, THURIST demands that the Osun Osun State Commissioner of Police and other law enforcement agencies use their respective offices to go after these criminal elements so as to rid the State of the several criminalities already placed on it by them.

We believe strongly that the security and wellbeing of the people is the primary purpose of the Government as encapsulated in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Governor of of Osun State is therefore called upon as the Chief Law Officer in the State to intensify the fight against crimes in the state, and specifically clamping down the menace of Yahoo activities in the state.

This is important as it will touch the minds of people of the state who have been affected by acts of criminalities of the Yahoo Boys as well as bringing dividends of democracy to the door steps of the people who have confidence and hope in the current government.
