Hoodlums attack park manager members in Oyo, vandalise vehicles

Hoodlums have attacked some Oyo state park manager members and vandalised cars belonging to them yesterday at the Royal Hotel, Owode roundabout, Oyo.

The members allegedly sustained injuries during the attack while personal belongings of the officers were also carted away by the hoodlums.

Confirming the incident to this reporter in Oyo, Alhaji Hammed Abdulmajeed Olawale popularly known as Fadaka Akanni Oyo said a handful of the Oyo State park manager members were recreating at Royal Hotel, Owode when hoodlums broke into the facility and began to brandish all sorts of weapons including machetes.

“The hoodlums in their numbers broke into Royal Hotel and started attacking our members. In the process, our members had to run for their lives because they didn’t want anything that would disturb the peace of the town. They vandalised our cars parked outside the hotel”.

Alias Akanni Oyo who said the crisis could have escalated but because park manager members are peace-loving, “we urgently sought the intervention of men of the Nigerian Police to put the situation under control”.

However, Mr Fadaka urged Seyi Makinde to be on his toes in ensuring that endearing peace his government is known for is enjoyed in the state, so that growth and development will be heralded.

Meanwhile, the Oyo West DPO and his men were at the scene to assess the level of damage done by the hoodlums. He therefore warned against reprisal attack.

Narrating his ordeal, one of the taskforce managers at the park, Mr Jude Coker (not real name) said he was inside the open facility of the Royal Hotel when those guys arrived and attacked them. He said, “they vandalised our cars numbering five and carted away some of our belongings”.

Two other victims also recounted their ordeals.

Vehicles vandalised were MICRA FQ226LND, Toyota Highlander, Toyota Picnic FST872FW, Toyota Camry EKY320GU and Toyota Corolla C MUS30FE
