Islam glorifies hardwork, not indolence displayed by some unscrupulous ‘Alfas’ – Imaam Igiogun

By Bukola Tajudeen

An Oyo-based cleric, Imaam Daud Igiogun has berated the attitudes of some unscrupulous ‘Alfas’ who are fond of indolent behaviours hiding under unseemly pretence.

The Imaam was frankly bitter today Friday while speaking with our reporter in Oyo. He said, some so called Muslim scholars; Alfas, have drifted away from pristine Islamic teachings, thereby allowing being used by the devil.

“Islam is a religion that extols hardwork in all ramifications. As such, it encourages agriculture, trade and business.

This is purely divine. And, any Alfa who does not prioritise hardwork has totally given in to Satan.”

Speaking on his staunch love for agriculture, the Imaam, who is also the proprietor of Nature Nurture Group of Schools condemned fetish nature of some ‘Alfas’, adding that, whoever doesn’t work, will live on God’s prohibitions – haram.

“Don’t forget that man will not get anything unless he works hard. This is contained in Surah 53 verse 39.

However, it may interest you to note that all staple food consumed in our household, including the hostelites in the school, are being planted, harvested and stockpiled from my farm.

This is Islam. Young Muslim scholars should emulate our pioneers who were diligent, and fed from their sweat.

“Doing business and earning a living is part of our religion. Therefore, unlike what people might assume otherwise, Islam encourages Muslims to work hard, be sincere and truthful, and excel in business transactions – farming, teaching, trade, etc.”
