World Cup 2022 Round of 16: Who’s playing, where and when?

World cup winner and France International striker Olivier Giroud has bidden Chelsea fans farewell as he finalises his move to Serie A giants AC Milan following three trophy-laden seasons at Stamford Bridge.

The frontman who swapped the red side of London for the blue side three years ago has now decided to call his London merry-go-round quits with his departure set to be confirmed.

In his three-year stay at the blues, the 34-year old won the FA Cup, Europa League, and Champions League with the club.

Giroud was known as a dependable savior to bank on in vital moments at Chelsea, most notably, he popped up with a wonderful overhead kick against Atletico Madrid in the Round of 16 in the Champions League last season which propelled them to lift the trophy.

In the just-concluded season, the French forward scored 11 goals in 31 appearances across all competitions for the west Londoners, as he formed a formidable strike force that secured a top-four finish and lift the ultimate European club competition title.

France Euro 2020 exit at the hands of Switzerland in the Round of 16 where he scored his spot-kick saw the need to complete his signature with the Italian giants before their pre-season training.

The forward notched over 100 goals for Arsenal before deciding to team up with Chelsea and automatic one-year extension back in April, allowing Chelsea to get a fee for the forward this window, with Chelsea honouring an agreement to let him leave.

The Frenchman completed his medical earlier today ahead of the move and took to social media to announce his Chelsea departure.

“To all the Blues, to my teammates, to all my coaches, to the whole club, a huge thank you for these special moments”.

“I’m starting a new journey with a light and happy heart. Our victories in Fa Cup, Europa League and Champions League have been magnificent”, the highest goal scorer at the 2020 UEFA Europa League added.
