Speaker of Oyo state House of Assembly, Honourable Debo Ogundoyin has decried the incessant killings in Ibarapa areas of the state, saying it has become a source of concern for every Ibarapa sons and daughters, home and abroad.

Honourable Adebo Ogundoyin said this on Friday in a message titled OUR CONCERN, MY CONCERN.

The speaker who said, the spike in insecurity has no doubt brought untold hardship to us as our political, social , economic and other sundry activities are now negatively affected, promised to redress and correct the narrative.

His statement;

OUR CONCERN, MY CONCERN.
Surely the security situation in Ibarapaland has become a source of grave concern for everyone at home and in diaspora.

We have really not had it this bad, and the hitherto peaceful, serene and tranquil nature of our land has been turned to an unsafe, unsecured and dangerous area with many families thrown into grieve and mourning as their loved ones and breadwinners are slaughtered and killed by kidnappers, armed robbers and other agents of Lucifer.

My heartfelt condolences to every family whose relations have been felled by the blood thirsty agents of destruction who now lurk around our fatherland to clandestinely execute their diabolical activities.

The death of people like Hon Fatai Aborode, Mrs Folakemi Olufunmilayo, Mrs Foluke Akinrinade and three of her colleagues, Dr Akindele, Mrs Adisa of Subawah Petroleum among others in our zone were indications of the abysmal level of insecurity in Ibarapaland. The death of the popular Oko Oloyun, Alh Fatai Yusuf in our area is surely part of the list of the victims of this insecurity.

The spike in insecurity has no doubt brought untold hardship to us as our political, social , economic and other sundry activities are now negatively affected. This we are out to redress and correct.

We are surely not folding our arms and looking the other way at this critical and trying moment. To do so is tantamount to using the proverbial left hand to show the direction to the home of our forebears and this we will never do. To feel unconcerned at this trying time is to jettison the strong family bond that connects the seven Ibarapas together, and this will undermine and betray the trust and confidence reposed in us by our people.

The situation has continued to give me as one of your representatives and other Stakeholders sleepless nights and several meetings have been held with security Chiefs in the State on the vital need for them to secure our land. Not to mention the number of meetings and discussions held with Governor Seyi Makinde on the matter. I must say , one of our efforts is the recent commendable activities of Amotekun in our area as they have been mandated to beam their searchlight on the seven Ibarapa towns , comb our forests, villages and other suspected hideouts of the criminal elements. We are also into other security talks , moves and strategies which we are not making public, and which we are convinced will yield the desired positive results.

In sum, we are embarking on a tour of the zone in its entirety to further meet with the stakeholders and the families and victims of insecurity in Ibarapaland. We shall surely take our land back from bandits and kidnappers who are profiting from these nefarious activities and our land will return to a safe haven for all residents and an investor friendly zone that it used to be, God’s willing.
