Oyo state engages French investors on sustainable cities, agribusiness, News Live Nigeria reports.

On Thursday, August 28, 2025, representatives of the Oyo State Government met with Mouvement des entreprises de France (MEDEF), the largest employer federation in France, during a visit to Paris.

MEDEF, which represents over 750,000 member firms, expressed keen interest in partnering with Oyo State on projects aimed at advancing sustainable urban development and industrial agriculture.

Discussions centered on investment opportunities in the Oyo State Agribusiness Industrial Hub in Ijaiye and the proposed Rungis-style wholesale agrifood market, which will also be sited at the hub. The French employers’ body further showed strong interest in airport cargo and agro-logistics tied to the ongoing upgrade of the Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport to international status.

The Oyo State delegation assured MEDEF of the administration’s readiness to welcome international development cooperation and investment. The government pledged to provide the necessary support to ensure that foreign investors can establish and thrive in the state’s business environment.

Recall that Governor Seyi Makinde recently embarked on a 30-day break from official duties, making his deputy the Acting Governor of Oyo State. The information about the meeting with French investors was shared on the Governor’s official Facebook page on Saturday.
