Oyo state commissioner for education, Barrister Olasunkanmi Olaleye has assured parents, guardians, students and school owners that the results of BECE, placement exams into JSS one and SSS one of schools of science in the state will be ready before resumption on September 21, 2020.

Barrister Olasunkanmi made this revelation on Thursday at the conference room of the ministry of education when League of Muslim Schools Proprietors, LEAMSP and Association of Private Schools Owners, APSON paid him a courtsey visit.

The commissioner said, ” I am assuring all stakeholders that all mercenaries have been put in place to ensure that the results of all exams conducted in August through September are out before resumption date. I am very confident about that”.

He added that all intervention programmes by the state such as stoppage of school fee payment, distribution of notebooks and text books to schools, and distribution of compendium to both private and public schools are indicative of the resolve of the state government in bringing succour to parents within the state.

While speaking with News Live Nigeria, Barrister Olasunkanmi established that Oyo state will continue to provide leadership in the country, particularly in the education sector.

He said, ” you recall that Oyo state was the first state in Nigeria to conduct all state exams namely, placement exam into Junior secondary school one, schools of science and Basic Education Certificate Examination, BECE. Despite the challenges occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic, we were able to conduct hitch-free exams across the state, and glory be to God, all were successful”.

He however expressed his sincere appreciation to the two associations, LEAMSP and APSON for their visit, and for resolving to collaborate with the government in taking education in the state to an enviable height.

Earlier in his speech, while welcoming the visiting school owners associations into education family in the state, the commissioner called on the private schools to always work in tandem with the education rules and guidelines in the state.

” We believe that working in tandem with the guidelines, rules and criteria as laid down by the state ministry of education, Oyo state will move from two-digit to one-digit position in the national ranking. Make sure your members engage qualified teachers, keep schools environment conducive and are duly registered”.
