TMC Oyo urges Muslims to embrace SMART decision making for growth

The Muslim Congress (TMC), Oyo State chapter, has urged Muslims to embrace SMART decision-making as a pathway to growth, both at the individual and organisational levels. This call was made during the organisation’s 32nd Annual Congress, which took place on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at the TMC Da’wah Centre in Ologuneru, Ibadan.

In his keynote lecture, Prince Maruf Afolabi Adeola, the Chief Executive Officer of Growth Space, explained that the art of decision-making is vital for success in life. He observed that many individuals and organisations fail in their quest for success because they overlook the importance of making smart choices, a shortcoming that affects professionals, communities, and even religious scholars.

Adeola encouraged Muslims to not only learn the principles of making smart decisions but to apply them consistently, warning that neglecting this would undermine both personal ambitions and collective aspirations. He explained that time management plays a critical role in decision-making, urging participants to always weigh importance against urgency in order to avoid wasted effort and missed opportunities.

In a farewell address, the Waali of TMC Oyo State, Alhaji Engineer Daud Oladosu, reflected on his two-term leadership, thanking members for their steadfast support. He expressed gratitude to Allah for the progress achieved during his tenure, noting that TMC had expanded from 16 to 23 local government areas and that attendance at the organisation’s Annual Lecture had grown from 1,200 to 3,500 participants.

He listed other milestones such as the establishment of secondary schools and mosques, the introduction of executive training and capacity development programmes, and the successful rebranding of initiatives. Oladosu urged the next leadership to focus more on grassroots da’wah, digital outreach, membership mobilisation, and community engagement, which he described as crucial for sustaining the organisation’s strategic vision.

Representing the Amir of The Muslim Congress, Imam Abdulhafeez Abdulazeez Ariremako, the Naibul Amir for Da’wah and Cultural Affairs, commended the outgoing administration for consolidating earlier achievements and adding innovations of its own. However, he expressed concern about the burden awaiting whoever takes over as Waali, insisting that the role demands even greater dedication and foresight. According to him, the new leadership must build on the foundation laid while striving to surpass past achievements.

The congress also featured the recognition of excellence among members. Ustadh Abdulfatai Fijabi, the State Assistant Secretary, was honoured as the Most Outstanding State Executive of the Year in recognition of his financial commitment, creativity, dedication, and membership growth strategies. In the category of Most Outstanding Local Government, Ibadan North secured first place, Oyo West emerged second, while North East came third.

Prominent figures graced the occasion, including the TMC Patron, Alhaji Abduljeleel Kola Ahmed, and the Chief Imam of Fountain University, Dr Surajudeen Bakrin.

The gathering ended on a note of anticipation as participants looked forward to an even larger turnout at the forthcoming Annual Congress scheduled for October 5, 2025, at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan.
