Your Place in the World of Choices

Although there may be few, but there’s always a pool of options to choose from. All that is needed is to be careful and choosy not to mischoose. Life is full of situations whereby one will certainly need to think and chose. Is it possible to go into two directions – like, going to the left and the right at the same time? No. So, one needs to relax, think and pick wisely.

“I had no choice.”

I have heard people saying this statement for quite a while and I had thought it’s true that there are some situations with zero choice, until I grew to understand that this position is wrong. There’s always an option.

However as humans, we tend or like to follow simpler path. Although, rough paths in most cases lead to success. Difficult situations bring the best of opportunities. But those opportunities are always for those who can see through in a blurry or hazy weather of challenges. For many get beclouded by what they are facing and missed the underlying opportunities.

That’s what he meant, Tai Solarin, when he said: “may my road be rough”.

No reasonable person will pray for uneasiness in life. But the fact is that, through experience and the observation of the movement of life, ease never comes easily. So, one needs to fight and get rid of the prefix “un” before “easiness” can present itself.

Life is never cruel, don’t get me wrong. You are always in charge. And for yourself, you have a duty to discharge. Sometimes you get low (like the battery on your phone), you have to get yourself charged. Sometimes as well, your inspirational account balance gets low, you have to get it recharged. So, when you found yourself in a clinic of challenges, please brace up and get yourself discharged. It’s your choice. It’s your world.

I have a lecturer in my University, who would come to class and say: “We will make life difficult for you”

You know what follows such a rather ‘harsh’ remark from a lecturer, as a student; murmuring and all kind of facial disgusting expressions, I even heard a colleague placing his head under the table, murmuring, “it’s your children you will make life difficult for”.

However, what I understood by that statement is different from what others do. Do you know why? One, because I must not have a bad picture of my lecturer in my mind. Two, I always remember Tai Solarin’s quote above. What if “making life difficult” for us, is his way of saying, we will make you tough, because as youths, students (who’s going to become lawyers), we must be tough. And by making life difficult for us, he is preparing us for the rougher days ahead? Because rough days always come. In other words, he was saying that he will prepare us for greatness.

In this world full of choices, it’s left to you to choose less difficult paths and (maybe) end up in a shackle of problems. Or you choose the one that seems tough/rough – which you know have much benefits, and end up in everlasting successes.

As it’s my choice to interpret my lecturer in a much better way unlike some of my colleagues; it’s my choice that, I am writing this, for it’s what really benefit me, though it’s not as easy as playing games; it’s also your choice that you read till the end. It’s your choice that you implement what you’ve learnt from it. It’s always your choice.

We are in the world of choices, so be choosy so as not to mischoose.

Gracias…!
