The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) has criticized the California District Court that ordered the arrest of the super police officer Abba KYARI on the 29th of July, 2021.
The forum described the indictment as “the attempted intimidation of a police officer inside his independent fatherland.”
This was published in a statement signed by the group’s National President, Alhaji Yerima, with a sound warning that “nothing must happen to (DCP Kyari).”
While they asserted their strong support for Kyari, they vehemently rejected the purported plan of the FBI to arrest DCP Kyari. They described the move by the FBI as “totally unacceptable, a slap on the sensibility of our compatriots and a ridicule on one of our finest crack detectives”.
The group voiced that it would keep a strong eye watch on how the events will unfold while stressing that there is no justification for “singling out one Nigeria’s finest and most effective cop for castigation.”
AYCF advised that “all Nigerians who are truly patriotic to stand behind a man who has made an unrivaled mark on the sands of time by diligently serving his fatherland.”
The President of the group made a strong call on the relevant stakeholders in government to “rally round this officer who risked his life in multiple operations across Nigeria, a fact proved many times through BBC news coverage of such operations.”
The group stressed that ”While we are conscious of our sovereignty as a nation, we demand justice for a man with unrivalled records of detective capabilities in the recent history of Nigeria.”
