After News Live’s report, Oyo has cancelled Arabic paper over what it called ‘technical error’.
The ongoing Basic Education Certificate Examination, BECE in Oyo state has received an unprecedented twist as Arabic language examination already written will be re-written.
According to the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Barrister Abdulraheem Abdulrahman while monitoring the BECE in five local government areas in Ibadan today, Cultural Creative Art, CCA and Arabic Language Subjects in the ongoing Basic Education Certificate Examination, BECE, have been cancelled over technical errors.
He however announced that the Cultural Creative Art and Arabic Language subjects which have been written will be rewritten.
‘Technical Error’
What Oyo State Ministry of Education, Science and technology meant by ‘technical error’ remains a mystery begging for an answer.
To demystify this conundrum, maybe the ministry needs more time to afford the public.
The ‘technical error’, presumably is not unconnected with the fact that it could not typeset the 2022 Arabic BECE question paper as early reported by News Live Nigeria.
2022 BECE and its over 150,000 students
A report on Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State, BCOS website gave the number of students sitting for this year’s BECE across the state as over 150,000.
Of all the 15 subjects unprecedentedly however, CCA and Arabic language are said to have been infected with ‘technical error’, and so, students would have to rewrite them.
The medium also reports that, “the Commissioner who lauded the compliance of Schools visited for obeying the rules and regulations of the terminal Examinations, stated that over 150,000 students are sitting for the ongoing BECE across the state.
According to him, 178 Students were present in the examination hall at Orogun grammar School while at Isabatudeen Girls’ Grammar school, there were 125 students during the monitoring.”
