Agony! 7 Killed in fatal auto crash in Oyo

An 18-seater bus has reportedly got burnt in a wild auto crash at old Irepodun Market Junction area of Oyo west in Oyo town on Thursday claiming all 7 lives on board.

The bus which took off from Jabata, Oyo was heading to Sabe, Benin Republic before the ugly incident occurred around 9pm.

According to eyewitness accounts, the driver, a brother to the bus owner, oversped and could not get his balance only to crash on the barricading bricks on the roadside.

Sources told News Live Nigeria that the victims were far from receiving requisite protective assistance from the onset of the unfortunate incident owing to the time it occurred even though the collision occurred few metres from the Ojongbodu police station.

Another eyewitness who recounted the incident under the condition of anonymity said that “It was like magic yesterday as the bus crashed on the side brick, the vehicle quickly caught fire.

There were kegs of petrol in the vehicle which aided the fire. We couldn’t help. Passengers were shouting, yelling for help. It’s a gory scene to behold!”

Sadly, among the casualties of the auto crash was a mother with her two children, the driver while some unidentified victims had been transported to a nearby hospital by the Amotekun corps of Oyo state for treatment.

Meanwhile, another account of the incident received by our correspondents stated that the driver also hit an Okada rider and had been taken to the hospital for immediate treatment.

News Live Nigeria understands that the vehicle, reportedly a new one was charred beyond recognition as our correspondent could not identify the number plate and other particularities.

Reports also had it that one of the victims who was rushed to the hospital after the incident has also been confirmed dead this morning.
