Agriculture: Zulum directs 3 deep aquifer boreholes to supply Monguno irrigation field

In his drive to boost the agricultural activities of the State, the Governor of Borno State, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum on Tuesday directed the State’s Rural and Urban Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWASA) to immediately drill additional three deep aquifer boreholes in order to supplement the already existing one borehole to meet up the requirement of Monguno irrigation field.

The existing water facility can only supply twenty hectres.

Zulum gave these directives when he visited two irrigation fields in Monguno town when he stopped over while on humanitarian trip to Kukawa Local Government Area.

It’s expected that each of the three boreholes will supply 20 hectres of the fields, which will expand the irrigation activities in the area.

The Governor directed that RUWASA General Manager, Engr. Dr. Mohammed Musa Aliyu to immediately mobilize to site.

Zulum also said that Government will release additional funding to compete other aspects of the project.

Earlier, the Governor went round the fields to assess the two fields and water supply system.
