Al-Mu’minaat, Oyo state begins Annual Week events, visits Rehabilitation Centre for the Disabled

Al-Mu’minaat, The Believing Women Organisation, Oyo State chapter has begun her 2021 annual programme dubbed Al-Mu’minaat Week on Tuesday 17 August, 2021 at the Rehabilitation Centre for the Disabled, Moniya, Ibadan.

The body called on well-meaning Nigerians to pay more attention to the less privileged and physically challenged in the society, giving assurance that tomorrow holds greatness for them despite the obstacles.

While speaking as the anchor of the events at the centre, Alhaja Maryam Olapade urged those who are ‘indoor’ to disregard all surrounding challenges, and called on the handlers not to rest on their oars in making sure that life becomes more meaningful for them.

“As we kick start this year’s Al-Mu’minaat Week with humanitarian visit to this centre, we believe that in disability lies ability. As a centre designed for the self reliance of the disabled persons, it is hoped that all factors to make you useful to yourself and the society are taken care of. We want you to acknowledge, therefore, that you can be great tomorrow, with God’s support, and unrelenting efforts of the handlers of the centre.”

News Live Nigeria gathered that, the school was established by the military government of Ibrahim Babangida in 1990, and was among the six created for each of the geopolitical zones across the country to rehabilitate physically challenged individuals within their respective jurisdictions.

According to findings, the centre caters for different categories of physically challenged persons; including the mentally challenged, visually impaired, physically challenged and hearing impaired; and trains them on professional trades that would make them self-dependent after graduation.

Al-Mu’minaat therefore sued for sustained love and unconditional care on the part of the staff of the school while encouraging members of the society to lend their support for the centre.
