Management of Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, EACOED, Oyo has directed all its students from 100 to 300 levels to proceed on 2-week inter-semester break after successful completion of first semester exams and Teaching Practice.

This was contained in a release signed by the Acting registrar, Asunmo, O. S. (Mrs.) and made available to News Live Nigeria. While the students are enjoying their break at home, the school facilities would provide a haven for the newly recruited Amotekun corps to undergo their compulsory training sessions.

According to Mrs Asunmo, the training will end on Wednesday November 18, 2020 after which normal academic activities will commence in the college.

The statement reads:

” I wish to congratulate our 100 and 200 Level students on the successful completion of the 2019/2020 First Semester Examinations. I equally use this opportunity to congratulate the 300 Level students on the completion of the 2019/2020 Teaching Practice exercise, being a major requirement for graduation.

You will please recall my memo ref. no. EACOED/Y/R.46/386 dated October 24, 2020 which declared an inter-semester break for all categories of students with a view to creating conducive environment that will engender a safe and protective atmosphere for the enjoyment of the break.

On a glad note, I am pleased to inform all students that His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Oluseyi Makinde has graciously approved our College, Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, Oyo as appropriate ground for the training of the newly recruited Amotekun Corps. While aligning with the vision of the Oyo State Government in securing the lives and properties of its citizenry, the Governing Council, staff and students could not but appreciate this uncommon gesture of His Excellency, Engr. Oluseyi Makinde for the kind consideration of our College among the comity of higher educational institutions in the State.

As a result of this and in full support of the vision, I wish to inform all students that the Chairman of the Governing Council, Prof. Matthew Odedokun has graciously approved that all students should continue to enjoy their inter-semester break while the environment is adequately secured for the training of the Amotekun Corps pending Wednesday, November 18, 2020 when normal academic activities are expected to resume in the College.

As earlier indicated, it is the College Management’s hope that students will take advantage of this break to revitalise for more vibrant academic activities and remain safe in their different places of abode”.
