Former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has declared his unflinching support for the protests going on in Lagos and other cities in the country against SARS.
According to the statement he released via his twitter handle, the PDP chieftain commended the tenacity of the youths for not only airing their views but also making their stand known through a “peaceful” demonstration.
“Protests are an essential part of any democracy as we have seen the world over, and should be seen as an opportunity for dialogue between our people and our leaders”, he affirmed.
He saw what is playing out as sheer freedom of assembly and expression which should be guided and guarded every now and then.
The former VP however censured any show of unfair treatment on the forward-thinking protesters.
He thus charged relevant authorities to investigate incidents of excessive use of force by security agencies against protesters.
