To cushion the effect of COVID-19 as well as the devastating aftermath of the ENDSARS protest that truncated peaceful co-existence in some parts of Iwoland late last year, the political wing of Jama’atu Taawunil Muslimeen, Taawun Political Forum, has shared relief packages to indigent members in Iwo.
News Live Nigeria recalls that during the ENDSARS Protest, inhabitants of the state had resorted to jungle justice; bursting COVID-19 palliative warehouses, occasioning looting witnessed in Iwo, of which the Iwo Local Government secretariat was not left out.
The Forum which was an initiative of Jama’atu Taawunil Muslimeen to checkmate elections into public offices in Nigeria did this as part of her agenda to cater for the masses.
Expressing his satisfaction on distribution of the packages, the Chairman, Taawun Political Forum, Comrade Abideen Muslim said the Forum was able to share the little it got from well-meaning Nigerians.
“We were only given 74 bags and it has been shared to all Wards in the Five Political Zones in Iwo Local Government”, he said.
He added that ” Government and Charitable private organisations should do more to improve the livelihood of the people of Nigeria at this trying time of second wave of coronavirus”.
